Erkeklik, sosyal bilimler alannda uzun bir sredir biyoloji kkenli cinsiyet tanmna dayanarak aklanmtr. Biyoloji kkenli cinsiyet tanmna gre erkeklik doutan sahip olunan genetik bir zelliktir. Bylece erkeklik biyoloji, anatomi ve psikoloji tarafndan incelenen bir aratrma alan olarak grlmektedir. Ancak feminist kuramlarn sosyal bilimler alanna kazandrd bak as sayesinde erkekliin toplumsal balamda ekillenen ve ina edilen bir olgu olduu kabul edilmeye balamtr. Bu balamda gnmzde erkekliin tpk kadnlk gibi toplumsal olarak cinsiyet politikalar tarafndan ekillendirilen ve her an yeniden oluan bir olgu olduu genel olarak kabul grmeye balamtr. Erkekliin toplumsal olarak ina edildii kabul edildiinde bu olgunun snrlarnn da deiken ve belirsiz olduu ortaya kmtr. Bylece erkek egemenlii ad verilen iktidar biimi de oul, hatta ou zaman birbiriyle atan farkl erkeklik deneyimlerine tekabl etmektedir. Sz konusu erkeklik deneyimlerinin sahip olduu erkeklik deerlerinde ve tarzlarnda yaanan deiim ise erkeklik krizi olarak adlandrlmaktadr. Bu yaklam erkekliin btnlkl ve yekpare bir oluum deil, tersine elikili ve paral bir toplumsal ina olduu grnn yaygnlamasn salamtr. almada 2013 tarihli, Uur Ycel tarafndan ynetilen Souk filmi eletirel sylem zmlemesi yntemi ile zmlenmi ve filmde erkekliin, sz konusu paral ve elikili yapsn ortaya koyan erkeklik temsilleri aracl ile sunulduu sonucuna varlmtr.

COLD (2013) MASCULINITY AT REPRESENTATION FILM
 
Masculinity has long been described in the social sciences, based on biology-based gender definitions. According to biology-based definition of gender, masculinity is a genetically inherited property. Thus, masculinity is seen as a field of research that is examined by biology, anatomy, and psychology. However, thanks to the point of view that feminist theories have brought to the field of social sciences, it has begun to be accepted that manhood is a phenomenon shaped and constructed in the social context. In this context, it is generally accepted that today, manhood, like femininity, is a phenomenon that is shaped by societal politics and that it is a re-emergence at any moment. When it is accepted that the man was built socially, it turns out that the boundaries of this phenomenon are also variable and uncertain. Thus, the form of power that is called male domination corresponds to different male experiences that are irrelevant, plural, and often conflicting with each other. The change in masculinity values and styles that masculinity experiences have is called "masculinity crisis". This approach has made it widespread that manhood is not a unified whole, but rather a contradictory and fragmented social construction. Souk, directed by Uur Ycel, was analysed by the method of critical discourse analysis and came to be presented through the representations of masculinity, which reveal the contradictory and fragmented structure of the man in the film.
